Can you spot the thieves?

Sat May 17, 2008, 11:09 AM
  • Mood: Disgust
  • Listening to: Silence... (Ahhhhh)
It seems it's been at least a year since I last updated. I guess it's time for a quick note anyways.. to change things up a bit.

I've been browsing d/a today and saw Elandria's post about how there is a lot of art theft going on at [link] . There is a lot of D/A artists I saw there, including :iconelandria: and :iconironshod:. I'm sure there's a LOT more there that I didn't know who the artist was. Go check out this place and see if any of your art work has been stolen and posted.

Art thieves make me angry! Just because thieves are uncreative shouldn't mean that the people who are artistic and talented should suffer. Artists and stock providers work hard to give us awesome stock, tools, artwork, tutorials and/or all of the above here at dA as well as around the world to get what we need done! They take their own personal time, gas, cameras, disc space, etc to go out and take pictures of millions of things to help us to complete pieces we need for work, play, entertainment, hobbies or whatever it is you do here! It shouldn't be the artists paying a price for showing the world their great talent and seeing others succeed or profit from their work. They should be the ones seeing/receiving the profit and success!

So please, if you see art posted somewhere that you know belongs to someone else and the thief has claimed it as their own, report it or tell the artist that's being hosed by these people so they can report it.

Lets all try and do our part to see our/your/our friends/our dA family get the credit they deserve! For all of you who provide us with the materials, stocks, backgrounds, brushes, ideals, creativity and whatever you provide for our enjoyment THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR EVERYTHING THAT YOU DO!!! Without you guys, we would all look like big stick figures with the happy smile faces.

You have some awesome shots! I love medieval archetecture and some of the shots you have are just spectacular! Very inspiring for sure!

There's a few good ideas bouncing around. Maybe I'll give it a shot!

Heh heh I have many many more that have never seen the light of day on DA .. there are a few in my very under developed art account [link] and I hope in time to get some more ..... One thing though ... there is nothing like actually walking in to a ruined abbey and seing the walls soar above your head and thinking that the rooves and carvings were all done by hand and some 900 plus years ago .... trust me if you EVER get the chance to come to England .. DON'T do the touristy thing and just go to London .. you really need to come to Yorkshire .. check out York and deffo take in a day at bothn Fountains abbey and Rievaulx .. if nothing else you really need to check these out in your life.

[link] <- check out here ...its my links page and has some interesting links to European castle pages and also to some information to do with the dissolution of the monestaries
[link] or check this page out ... it has lots of information about the above 2 abbey complexes I have told you about (plus the other 3 big Cistercian monastic houses in Yorkshire)

Thanks so much for the nice words and I am so glad you like what I got :)

Thanks for the info! I definately want to check those out!

We are planning a trip to Europe sometime in the future, since I have a childhood friend that lives there now. The one thing I have said I want to do is check out the "haunted" sites around Europe, and to see some of the great places like the Abbeys and castles. (I'm a huge castle nut!) There's supposed to be a super-haunted castle in Scottland.
If you were to get some good pics of some haunted sites, that would be awesome too! Though I'm sure you wouldn't put them on DA :) It'd just be nice to see all of those awesome places that I just can't get to.

Cheers!

There is a haunted castle in Scotland yeah its said to be one of the most haunted places in Europe .... I know Valle Crucis Abbey in North Wales is said to have a spirit and Tintern in south Wales is spossed to be the UK's most haunted abbey ... Theough the guest house complex at Fountains has always given Lanny an uneasy feel even during the day and she is sure she caught something on the camera last time we were there during the evening light show :S....

As for me getting some then yeah I would love to, but I have never ever got anything even photgraphing grave yards or being in abbeys at night .. we recently spent midnight till one in the graveyard of the church next to Whitby abbey with nothing .. if anything the hall next door made you feel more uncomfortable, I've been in abandoned mental asylums and the like but never seen anything :(
